CINEMA DO FUTURO

AROUND THE #SUN
(80 min, Hybrid / Road-Movie)

#Fight-or-flight, they call. Begins in the amygdala, increases blood pressure, the production of glucose, there is a boost of energy, blood flow to muscles, heart output increases, the pupils dilate, sugar is released, palpitations, tachycardia, anxiety, tremor, knees shake, heart rate peaks, tunnel vision, loss of hearing. I feel a runner's high, I am under surveillance, I will open this #border.

On the day of his deportation, a young black, brazilian, queer, hacker races through Berlin. As he runs through the spring landscape, other cities and memories flash before him, revealing his journey as a migrant and offering an intimate portrait of a generation in transit, without borders.

Executive Producer -
Mathias Reitz Zausinger (Germany)
neue reitz filmproduktion

I work as a producer and multimedia artist between Berlin, Munich, and São Paulo. Since becoming a father, the center of my personal life has been in Neukölln, Berlin.

Having a familial connection to Chile, the history of South America has always been an important reference for my thinking, work, and interests. Before deciding to become a producer, I studied philosophy, cultural studies and Fine Arts in Munich, Lisbon, and Berlin and Fine Arts at the Academy in Munich. My main focus during my studies was the history of ideas in the early modern period. The research trips to Brazil during my studies and my engagement with local theory marked my personal shift toward the lusophone world and a growing interest in genuinely Brazilian thought.

Between 2019 and 2022, I lived in São Paulo, deepening my professional and personal networks in Brazil. In 2022, I conducted research and collaborated with Video nas Aldeias, an indigenous network of film- and video makers. My travels to indigenous territories in Pará and the Amazon, as well as to the quilombos in Maranhão, profoundly influenced me by witnessing the still-colonial present in the Global South.

I made my cinematic debut in 2024 with my film „Boalândia“, a feature-length documentary examining contemporary forms of cultural resistance in Brazil (World Premiere: São Paulo int. Film Festival 2024)

Since 2022 I hold a senior role as a producer and shareholder at neue reitz Filmproduktion GmbH. The company was founded in 1966 by my grandfather Edgar Reitz and is today based in Munich and Berlin. In our Munich-office we are running a in-house post-production studio, enabling us to ensure that all projects meet the highest cinematic standards.

Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in the logic and execution of major film productions, including September 5 (dir. Tim Fehlbaum) and Leibniz – Chronicle of a Lost Painting (dir. Edgar Reitz), among others. Today, reflecting my professional network, I am actively involved in co-productions with authors from Brazil, Chile, Taiwan, Morocco, and Germany.

Now responsible for this long-standing and well-established company, my goal is to revitalize the notion of auteur cinema, returning to the political roots of filmmaking. As a producer, I strive to realize projects that transcend borders, languages, and oceans, producing them within the existing network of funding institutions and industry interests while pushing the limits of bureaucratic restrictions.
